That Tone Of Voice

It’s Tuesday, Wholetonians!

How is your “New Year,” stacking up? For me, 2018 has come out of the chute like a racehorse; this year is going to be a wild ride for sure! Expect the unexpected and lots of big changes, all for the better, in this amazing year of redemption. You can also expect some BIG changes with Wholetones … I promise you will be quite pleased!

One thing I am committed to this year is helping people get a great night’s sleep. In 2017, the CDC made this statement:

“A third of US adults report that they usually get less than the recommended amount of sleep. Not getting enough sleep is linked with many chronic diseases and conditions—such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and depression—that threaten our nation’s health. Not getting enough sleep can lead to motor vehicle crashes and mistakes at work, which cause a lot of injury and disability each year. Getting enough sleep is not a luxury—it is something people need for good health. Sleep disorders can also increase a person’s risk of health problems.”

One third of America is NOT getting the sleep they need, and if you can’t sleep, you can’t heal. Since releasing, “Wholetones 2 Sleep”, we have received an unprecedented number of testimonials from people who have stopped counting sheep and started counting their blessings! And this is just the beginning—stay tuned. Now, on to today’s musing, “That Tone Of Voice.”

If you want to know about a tree, you can learn a lot by its growth rings. If you want to know a lot about a person, listen to their voice! It’s true: you can tell if someone is stressed, peaceful, tired, happy, sad, healthy, sick … it’s all in the frequency of their voice.

When someone calls me, I can almost immediately tell how they are doing by the tone of their voice. When you were little, did your Mom ever say, “Don’t talk to me with that tone of voice!” after you answered her sharply? The tone, or frequency, of your voice does not lie; it is a reliable “litmus” for your real-time state of being.

The best part is that your voice will disclose whether or not you are being honest. Yes, the human voice is an organic lie detector! Perhaps that’s the reason why people are read their Miranda rights when they are arrested. They have the right to remain silent. Seeing that God, in His infinite genius gave us a voice, perhaps we should be wise when using it.

Your voice is who you are. And your voice identifies you! As soon as James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, or Cyndi Lauper open their mouths, you know who they are! When we examine the following scripture, we see this idea in a whole new light.

John 10: 3-5, “The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”

Even sheep can discern the kind, familiar voice of their shepherd, and are not fooled by the voice of an imposter. Our voice defines us. So, “that tone of voice” is what separates us from every other voice in the din of humanity.

Make your voice count, speak truth, speak healing, and speak the language of love, which is without repentance. The power of life and death is in the tongue, so speak life! Until next week…

Be Whole,

Michael S. Tyrrell
